On Thursday the 15th, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, the Community Library, headed by Reference Librarian extraordinaire Buffy McDonald, will host a Fiestas Patrias celebration. It is an independence celebration for all countries in the Americas, North, South, and Central. We also give a special acknowledgment to the September 15th El Grito celebration in Mexico that marks the beginning of a long and difficult struggle with colonial rule. Everyone is welcome to attend!
The event will be held near the entrance to the Children’s Library and on the adjacent green. Please come and celebrate independence for all. This is a family friendly celebration, and refreshments and tamales will be served until they run out. There will be piñatas, a coloring contest, and tres leches cake for the kids!
The party will kick off at 4:00 pm–there is parking in the city lot next to the LDS church. The Children’s parking lot will be closed for the event.
